Accommodation

The Student Support section of the RCA website has very good information on accommodation. Here you will find information on:

  • different neighbourhoods in London;
  • where to find accommodation online; and
  • a list of letting agencies.

There is also a short movie that you might find helpful with advice from previous students looking for accommodation.

On the Rcade notice board other students and alumni advertise for flatshares, so sign up to get emails from there if you want to share with fellow students. Or alternatively check on Space regularly.

Some legal stuff to bear in mind

  • It is unlawful for letting agencies to charge you a fee for registering with them.
  • Landlords are required by law to protect your deposit in a government deposit scheme. This makes it easier for you to get your deposit back when you move out.
  • Make sure you have a tenancy agreement. If you are unsure about any terms in the tenancy agreement, book an appointment with Student Support who will talk through the contract with you.

Remember you have to pay council tax as well as bills. Also remember to register to vote, as you can vote either at your term time or home address.
